If you have never received counselling or psychotherapy before, I understand that reaching out can feel scary. Sharing difficult thoughts and feelings with someone you haven’t met before isn’t easy, but I am dedicated to creating a down-to-earth, empathetic relationship with you – one based on mutual trust and comfort.

My practice is a safe, nurturing space where you are supported in your efforts to change through the process of increasing your self-awareness, vulnerability, and honesty. This is your time: a chance to explore your particular situation and develop a way of moving forward that makes sense to you.

Humanistic

Working in a humanistic way means that I place the quality of our therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together. Real connection is so important to us as human beings; experiencing that in our sessions means you become more confident and genuine, which is vital for making real progress on your journey towards understanding yourself. If you don’t feel comfortable, you won’t ever become an active participant in the therapeutic process, and as a result therapy won’t be as helpful. After all, you are the only person who can actually unlock the answers inside yourself. You have that power, and my role as a humanistic practitioner is to walk alongside you in your discovery of that power to change and find the answers for yourself.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EDMR is a particularly effective treatment for people who are holding trauma of some kind in their body. The process is geared towards unhooking the pain linked with the trauma you have experienced and allowing you to process it as a normal memory. I will move my fingers back and forth in front of your face as we walk through a traumatic event in a way that is comfortable to you, ultimately reconnecting you in a safe, guided way with the images, thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations that are associated with that trauma.

Zoom Sessions

We will usually meet online over Zoom or via telephone on a weekly basis for 50 minutes, with you receiving total privacy at all times. Some clients prefer to have sessions every fortnight, while others may need more than one meeting a week. Whatever your needs, we can arrange a way of working that suits you. Clients can work with me on an open contract or have a fixed number of sessions followed by a review. If you need to cancel an appointment, I will need at least 48 hours’ notice, otherwise you will be required to pay the full fee for the session.
